DCC developed out of my lifetime interest in waterfowl and I'm excited offer a selection of duck and goose calls that are suited to a variety of calling situations. A full time professional dog trainer for over 18 years, Dead Creek Calls is a part time business for me.
From tiny inland beaver ponds to the broad lake and the open fields of the Champlain Valley, I've had the opportunity hunt in these diverse areas for over 35 years. As time passed, my interest in calling increased to the point where I began making my own calls and then the creation of Dead Creek Calls. I'm proud to offer my line-up of Dead Creek Calls that have been developed with the input of hunters, professional guides and contest callers from around the country. Their input has been invaluable in creating calls to meet the demands of discriminating hunters every where.

If you're looking for an easier blowing short reed style call the KZ-1 is for you. With its straight bore and insert, the KZ-1 builds quite a bit of back pressure making deep goosey sound easy to blow. Clucks moans and bawls can all be produced with the same deep sound geese respond to very well.
Available in acrylic, hedge, cocobolo, cedar and several types of stabilized wood, the KZ-1offers you the choice of acrylics sharp crack to the mellow sound of cedar, you can chose the call material that will provide the sound your looking for.

The loudest goose call I produce, it's perfect for those windy days or when you need to compete with other parties calling in your area or you just want to be heard by high flying flocks. The large internal flare in the insert requires the caller to be more skilled with their back pressure control. Once you gain that control and find your sweet spot the JH-3 will reward you with the volume you need at times and the speed you want as you talk em down.
The JH-3 is available in all acrylic and barrels in hedge, cocobolo, several stabilized woods all with acrylic inserts.

No one call fits every hunting situation. Big water and windy days may require a very loud call while small potholes on windless days demand subtle quiet calling. The Arkansas style single reed GL-1 duck call is offered in two configurations that will address the demands of every hunt. The high big water version is super for those days when volume is all important while the marsh version is a better choice when you need more subtle calling.
With a wide range in pitch the GL-1 lets you produce everything from the deepest quacks from the old hens to those squeakier quacks that young ducks make.
The GL-1 is available in acrylic, hedge, cocobolo and a variety of stabilized wood barrels with acrylic inserts.

If you want a call that will produce a variety of goose sounds without the practice that goes into mastering a short reed, the Pure Goose is for you. A new take on an old style call, the Pure Goose requires modest air and back pressure control to successfully call geese. Hundreds of thousands of geese have been called in using this style call across the country over the years. With the introduction of the Pure Goose you can add to that number tomorrow.
The Pure Goose is available in acrylic, hedge and cocobolo. Other woods may be available by special order.

One thing you can be sure of is that while snow geese don't have the calling vocabulary that Canada's do, they're anything but quiet! Having every hunter in the party making snow goose sounds will go a long way to add realism to your decoy spread. Sized and tuned to produce the sounds you need to make, the SG-1 will be a valued addition to your lanyard when the white tornado heads your way.
The SG-1 is available in clear acrylic. Other colors may be available by special order request.

Sometimes I run across wood that almost demands to be made into a one off pair. Of course matching pairs can be turned on request out of my standard available materials. Custom laser engraving is available as well as matching numbers.
These calls make super gifts especially for someone that really deserves them. Like you!

From time to time I have calls available that are either produced while I'm experimenting with different design or something that may have occurred while turning that mandated a change in design [chipping wood for example]. If you're looking for something totally different be sure to contact me to see what's available.

Have a special piece of wood you'd like made into a call? Would you like to pick out a one off wood or color combo that no one else has? Do you have a design you'd like to have a call made in? How about a series of custom calls for your friends, business, club, DU chapter or organization? I'm more than happy to try to meet your requests if at all possible. Please contact me with your request or ideas and we can discuses how it can become a reality. Custom colors/wood designs, engraving and logos can turn your call into a cherished collectable.

How a call is tuned will contribute tremendously to the pressure needed to operate it and it's pitch. If you request a special tune on a Dead Creek Call I will do my best to provide that tune. Unless you have experience tuning calls or are ready to learn through MUCH trial and error, I would advise against taking the guts out of a goose call.

DCC Pro guts are our own guts. They can be tuned for tone and volume and they are quite loud. I feel you can always muffle a call but you can only make it so loud when you need to. Other guts may be available by special request. DCC Pro guts are a work in progress and may differ from time to time.
Calls are a reeded instrument and don't take kindly to being treated poorly. I suggest hanging your calls on a lanyard with a loop for both barrel and insert. Inside your coat they will be protected from the junk in your pockets, shooting bag and debris afield all of which can damage your call.
All calls can be flushed with CLEAN [that excludes dipping it in the swamp!] water and wiped with a soft cloth. Should your call become clogged with potato chips or Skol, running or pouring clean water through the insert end will usually rectify the problem.
Wood calls or calls with a wood insert should have the insert removed from the barrel for drying after a day afield of prolonged blowing. At seasons end calls should be stored with the inset removed from the barrel.
Mylar reed can become damaged if exposed to high heat. Your dashboard is not the place to store your call! The brass bands will tarnish but can easily be brought back to a high luster with a bit of good quality metal polish.

Ducks and geese can respond well to even the most basic attempts with a call. You don't have to be a national champion to be a very successful caller. You will enjoy much greater success though if you learn to operate your call in a manner that lets you utilize the full range of sounds possible with a Dead Creek Call.
There are a wide variety of excellent videos/CD/DVD available today. My top choices would be "Break Through II" by Dave Smith [CD] or "Honker Talk" with Shawn Stahl for geese or "The Carlson Calling System for ducks". Practicing without the correct foundation is worse then no practice at all. If nothing more they will give you an idea of what you might aspire to sound like with a little dedication. Feel free to call me if you are experiencing frustration with you call. I'll be happy to try to help.
